To the (parents, Richardson family, Melvin McCullough and Vernell McCullough and other close relatives and friends, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your loved ones. I could never imagine what you must be feeling or going through. But, just know that I can only offer words of comfort and encouragements. Keep your faith and trust in God and we know that He will surely see you through. The boys have done what has been assigned to them here on this earth and they have made their transition into a life to live with the Lord to receive everlasting life. I only remember the boys when they were smaller and Rev. Vernell (grandmother) would bring them to Bible School during the summer to Rock Grove A.M.E.Zion Church in Rock Hill, SC. They were very nice and respectful then and with all of the outpouring of love and kind words, I could only imagine what kind of young men they had grown up to be. I pray that God will give each of you the strength to get through these coming days and weeks ahead. Please know that I will continue to lift you up in my prayers. May the love that surrounds you by friends, school mates, family and other loved ones continue to be a blessing to you in some way or another. My prayers are with you. To the Richardson family:
I thank God for sending you to the Johns Island Parish and for me to meet two beautiful young men like (Matt and Kelvin) who loved the Lord and displayed that love in their music.
In the last couple of weeks that I saw them displayed and shared their love for the Lord and music at Enoch, Steward Chapel and Bethlehem United Methodist Churches was such a lasting impression on my life. Whenever their names are mentioned I can still see Matt on the keyboard and Kelvin beating the drums those nights (Enoch & Stewart Chapel) like it was their last performance, which gives me such a peace to know that at such a tender age they knew the Lord and served Him well through music. It is my prayer for the entire Richardson family that God will keep you all close to His bosom and as you feel His heart beat that you know that He has Matt and Kelvin there with Him.

My sincere heartfelt condolences to the Richardson family. I had the opportunity to be in numerous church services at Enoch Chapel U.M. Church and witness the anointed music played by these two young men. When I got the report on Sunday afternoon I was deeply saddened. Pastor Victoria Richardson was such a proud and loving grandmother to Matt and Kelvin. She allowed them to use the talent God gave them without restrictions. I know Enoch Chapel has suffered a great loss but remember, God is still in the healing business. He can and will heal all the broken hearts that have loved and nurtured Matt and Kelvin. Family, remember the Joy of the Lord is your strength. Truly there is power in prayer, the prayers going up for you during this difficult time are to enormous to imagine. Remember God is able, trust Him always.

When I first met Matthew, he was doing what he loved best. We met at the Guitar Center in Charleston South Carolina. I was visiting this particular Guitar Center because I had been traveling the east coast trying to start a new non-profit to help get kids off the streets and into music.

I sat down with Matt and ended up recording a video of us jamming out together. I ended up exchanging numbers with Matt a few minutes later, and when I told him what I did his eyes lit up! I ended up meeting someone later on that I know he would get along great with. A female artist by the name of Jessica Treadwell. As time progressed I ended up putting together a concert in which Matt attended as well as Jessica.

From that point on spending time together all of us as a group I knew that things were finally working. Matthew Richardson was by far the most soulful piano player I have ever met! I will truly miss you Matt and thank you each and everyday. Because you were an inspiration to me! I will always keep my promise to you!

November 20, 2012

Mr. and Mrs. Richardson,
In the mornings during the Hanahan High School year, my son and I would pass your son at his bus stop. I never knew his name was Kelvin until yesterday when I saw the tragic news of your beloved sons passing. This morning and every day that I pass your road, I will remember seeing Kelvin and all his glory as he stood and waited for his bus ride. Kelvin was always wearing his head phones and bouncing around to what we assumed was some good music.

My son who is a freshman at HHS rode the bus home with him in the afternoons and said that Kelvin was friendly to him and kind to everyone else. Even though my son didn't know Kelvin on a very personnel level, he has been deeply impacted by the loss of school mate close to his age and in such a tragic turn of events (as have I).

God has a purpose for all our lives and I question not his dealings for you may be struggling for an answer to His calling of your sons. Please know that your sons have and will always be teaching our family a lesson and that they have had purpose in our life. I only wish that we would have stopped and offered him a ride to school, or to have known him and his brother Matthew.

Our family will be lifting up your family in our prayers and we will continue to remember Kelvin and his free spirited moves while waiting for his ride.
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

To The Richardson Family,
May God be with you during this time.I do not know this family but I love you all. When I heard about what happen my heart felt the need to reach out to you. I am a Christian so I feel that I have a duty to be there for my brothers and sisters in Christ.Know that earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. God will always and forever be with you. Know that God is a comforter and that he can be whatever you need him to be. God is all seeing and all knowing. I ask him to just hold this family in his arms and mend your broken hearts. I know that God can do all things except fail. Trust and believe that he is there. When you are hurt,God is there. When you are broken,God is there. When it's in the middle of the night and no one else sees your tears,God is there. When no one else can feel or imagine your pain,God is there. When days ahead seem to be rough, God is there. When you feel alone, God is there. No matter what situation you face God will always be there. Trust in him and he shall see you through. Karen, Tony, Melvin, Vernell and family...simple condolences are not enough to express the pain I feel for you. Please know that my family and I are praying for your healing.
