Matthew Jones Georgetown, SC - Rev. Matthew Jones, 75, husband of Sarah Scott Jones, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Manning. Born on March 26, 1941, in Horry County, he was a son of the late James Mack Jones and the late Dula Mae Hardee Jones. Rev. Jones was a US Army veteran and was a Mason. He was a Baptist minister and served at Chaparral Baptist Church in Moncks Corner, First Baptist Church in Murrells Inlet and was currently serving as an associate pastor at Graves Southern Baptist Church. Rev. Jones also worked for General Electric for many years. He enjoyed racing, going to church, singing, witnessing and most of all serving the Lord. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two children, Rebecca Jones (Stan) of Manning and Matthew "Bubba" Jones, Jr. (Jamie) of Manning; six grandchildren, Joshua Carner (Alexa) of TN, Daniel Carner of TN, Brittany Jones Johnson (Richard) of Manning, Tiffany Nora Jones "Tater Pie" Heverling (Dustin) of Manning, Matthew Bubba Jones of Manning and Ace Lynch of Manning; two great-grandchildren, Topanga Lynn Johnson and RaeLynn Grace Heverling; four sisters, Naomi Jones Russ of Hanahan, Ruth Jones Quickel of TX, Ruby Jones Weis Linthicum of TX and Mary Ellen Jones of Pawleys Island; one brother, Thomas E. Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Jones Anderson and Joann Jones; four brothers, Wilson L. Jones, James Mack Jones, Jr., Paul W. Jones and Enoch Jones. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Monday, July 11, 2016 at Graves Southern Baptist Church, with Rev. Chris Giles and Elder Mike Goude officiating.
