Matilda Martin Obituary

MARTIN, Matilda VANCE Mrs. Matilda Williams Martin, 91, of Vance died Saturday, February 12, 2005 in a North Charleston nursing home. Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday at Gerizim United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry Brinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 10 AM. Mrs. Martin was born in Vance a daughter of the late Durant Williams and Susie Martin Williams. She was a life-time member of Gerizim United Methodist Church and the widow of John Joe Martin. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by sons, John Bobby Martin and Shufford Martin, and one granddaughter, Joann Thompson Beach. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Edna M. Hill of Lebanon and Mrs. Sylvia M. Strickland of Vance; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Friends may call at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill from 4 to 6 PM this Sunday.
