Mary Rawl Obituary

Sorry for your loss, I read Mary's Obituary and I was one of those many she wrote a card or note to and ever since I moved to Myrtle Beach SC area we spoke on the phone several times. I will miss her cards, note and her phone calls. I know how much she loved you all!! She was a wonderful person. I know she will be looking down at each and everyone of you in between shuffling and dealing cards!!!

The strong matriarch of the Rawl family, Mrs. Rawl, brings memories of being a 12 year old Porter Military student and seeing her enthusiastic support of her sons in everything they did. Firm but fair, you knew to be on your good behavior around her. My other most recent memory is how she was such a good friend to my mother Edna Orvin. For all who knew her , we were better for it.

Mary was one of my mother's dearest friends for years; I grew up calling her "Aunt Mary" because they were so close. In June of 1948 the two couples went to New York together to see Ethel Merman in "Annie Get Your Gun." They had decided before they left that they would go on the trip and then come home and have a second child. Sure enough, Renee was born in March 1949 and my sister Judy was born in April. They were very determined ladies! They had a good time together.

My visit's with Miss Mary were the highlight of my week. I loved her spunk, and her stories. She always had new ones to share. I feel very blessed to have been a part of her life. She lived a Long Life, and we should all feel grateful that she kept going for 97 years. Loosing a lady like her is difficult for all who loved her, but I'm sure she will continue to watch over her entire family with that same spunk. My sympathy's to you all. Thank you for sharing her with me.

My condolences for your loss. I remember your mother as a kind person, especially when a young fellow decided to ride his bicycle from town out to John's Island to visit his friend Dana!

My deepest sympathy to all of Mary's family. All of you are in my prayers during this difficult time. Mary was a wonderful lady and I will miss her. I was in her bridge clubs and went to her home many times to play bridge and listened to her many stories about her husband and children. She loved telling those stories.
