Mary Irons Nimmich "Mae" SUMMERVILLE - Mary "Mae" Irons Nimmich, 89, widow of Drury Charles Nimmich, of Summerville, SC died quietly at The Village in Summerville on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Mary Elizabeth Irons was born on June 3, 1920, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Irons. She was married to the late Charles "Dru" Nimmich for fifty-four years. Mae and Dru moved to Summerville in 1951 and raised four sons, all Citadel graduates. Mae grew to love Summerville. She touched many people through her charitable works with Meals on Wheels, St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, and Summerville Catholic School. Mae loved her pets, playing bridge, and cheering for The Citadel Bulldogs. She is survived by four sons, Thomas Mitchell Nimmich, Geoffrey John Nimmich (Linda), Drury Charles "Chip" Nimmich, Jr. (Stuart) and Michael Walter Nimmich (Barbara), eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville at 9 am on Friday, April 9, 2010. The rite of committal will take place at Beaufort National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
