Mary Mims Obituary

Mary Catherine Mims CROSS, SC - Mrs. Mary Catherine Brownlee Mims, 78, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Pastors Mickey White and Tommy Dantzler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Catherine was born in Berkeley County a daughter of the late James E. Brownlee and Fannie Smith Brownlee. She was retired from food service with the Berkeley County School System, and was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Catherine enjoyed sewing, and baking and decorating cakes. She was preceded in death by brothers, James Brownlee, Jr., and Carlisle Brownlee. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, E.J. Mims; daughters, Marilyn (Joe) Newberry of Bluffton, and Judy (Patrick) Mitchum of Cross; sisters, Dorothy (Laurie) Koger of Summerville, and Vernette Westbury of Santee; a brother, David (Faye) Brownlee of Goose Creek; grandchildren, Chris (Monica) Smith, Pat (Brittany) Mitchum, III, and Jill (Marty) Bunch; great-grandchildren, Jackson Lee Smith and Callie and Chloe Mitchum. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Karen Styles, Vicky Clark, Tara Vonohsen, Sara Greene, Kimberley Coulter, Danielle Driggers, and Willa Mae Taylor for their care and kindness. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. this Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt.
