Mary Klinedinst Obituary
KLINEDINST, Mary Mary Stewart Coxe Klinedinst, 88, a mother, librarian, and homemaker died peacefully at home in Bethesda, MD on April 4, 2007. She was a former high school teacher of English, French, and Latin and a former librarian for the United States Department of State and a reference librarian for Montgomery County, MD. Mrs. Klinedinst was born on January 30, 1919, in Marlboro County, South Carolina. The daughter of Willie Covington Coxe and John Erwin Coxe, she attended Bennettsville High School where she was the salutatorian and received her B. A. with highest honors at Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina. She taught school in St. George, South Carolina and at Rock Hill High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina from 1940 through 1943. She taught courses in English, French and Latin. She moved to Washington, D. C. in 1944 to take a position with the United States Department of State as a librarian. On October 25th, 1947, she married David Moulson Klinedinst, a lawyer with the Justice Department in Washington, D. C. She became a homemaker and mother, raising four children while living in Silver Spring and Bethesda. In 1967 she returned to work with Montgomery County, ultimately serving as a reference librarian at Davis Library and the Bethesda Chevy Chase Library. She retired in 1987. She lived in Bethesda, MD for the past 50 years and was predeceased by her husband in 2003 after 55 years of marriage. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Norwood Parish, in Chevy Chase, MD. She served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and with St John's Opportunity Shop. She was also an active participant in a book club at the time of death. She is survived by four children. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, Norwood Parish, in Bethesda, MD on April 20th at 1pm. Burial will be private.
