Mary Holmes Obituary

On behalf of all at Pet Helpers please accept our deepest sympathy in your loss of Mary. I appeared before Mary working on behalf of several animal neglect cases over the past few years and she was a truly compassionate Judge, and a strong suuporter of animal welfare and protection. She will be very much missed. God bless you during this most painful time.

I am remembering my Mary as I write this message. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to sit and talk with Mary about the goodness of God. We talked and laughed about the "good times" that we shared over the years on the District 23 Constituent School Board, our travels to meetings, our shopping habits (suits and shoes), our friendship, and most of all my wedding (such a beautiful bridesmaid). I will always cherish and remember everthing that we shared together. I know that Mary knew the Lord for herself, we always talked about our relationship with the Lord. As, I write these words of condolences, I know that Mary is home at last. I will certainly miss her, always sharing a word of advice, comfort or just everyday conversation. What a good freind! It saddened me to hear of Judge Holmes' passing. Over the years, she was truly an inspiration and served as a personal mentor throughout my life. I am appreciative for the wisdom she instilled in me and the encouragementshe provided from high school to college to law school, and I thank you for sharing her with so many that she came into contact with, Her zest and motivation for the young people in our community to succeed touched many and inspired within us...the want to soar to higher heights. I am deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Mary B. Holmes. She was my friend, mentor, and co-worker. She touched my life in so many ways and I am grateful for the memories of laughter that we shared. I was only one of her clerks. I truly loved her as if she was my mother, because so many times she spoke to me like I was her child. I only wish I could have expressed all my gratitude to her before her passing.

How it saddened me to hear of the loss of Mary. Mary and I (and LaVerne) were best friends throughout our high school years. There are many fond memories that I will forever cherish.

I met Mary in the late 80’s at Trident Technical College, Palmer Campus as a new student. I can remember her as a kind hearted and witty person who was the lover of food, fun and laughter. One of her favorite saying was “before food shall waste, gut will burst”. I can still picture her on Fridays as she attends court with her face all made up and we would tell her that she has her war paint on ready to do her job as a judge. That will be the Mary Holmes I will always remember in my heart and spirit.
Family for comfort read Psalm 37:5, which says "commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him and He shall bring it to past.
