Mary Gray Obituary

Mary Ann Gray GOOSE CREEK - Mary Ann Gray, 82, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family August 31, 2025, after a long illness. The family will receive visitors at 3:00pm followed by funeral services at 4:00pm this Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Cathedral Church, 3790 Ashley Phosphate Road. She was born on April 23, 1943, in Vidalia, Georgia, the daughter of Radford (RC) C. Rogers and Mary Kate Ross Rogers. She grew up in North Augusta, SC, where she met her high school sweetheart, Graydon (Buddy) Gray, Jr. They married on June 23, 1962, where the U. S. Navy took them to Norfolk, VA, and finally to Charleston, SC, where they would raise 3 children. They were happily married for 59 years prior to his death in 2021. They leave to cherish all of the wonderful family memories, daughters, Lisa (Don) Hutson, Susan (Eddie) Tilley of Charleston, SC and son Michael (Jessica) Gray of York, SC, grandchildren; Donald (Victoria) Hutson, Brittany (John) Wilgus, Anna Paige Hutson (Dylan Henderson), Matthew (Calysta) Tilley, Mary-Kate (Blake) Califf, Taylor (Nick) Latronica, Elijah Gray; great-grandchildren; Charlie Lynn Hutson, Alex Hutson, Logan Hutson, Blakely Wilgus, and Archer Califf. Mary Ann was a faithful military wife and stayed home to raise their three children until 1977 when she went to work for Marrington Elementary School and quickly decided to follow her passion of working with children. She continued for almost 27 years as a Kindergarten aide. Working in the school system allowed her to always be present for her children as they pursued cheerleading, pep squad, softball, track & field, and football. She and her husband, Buddy, always made sure that their grandchildren were equipped with all the necessary tools (computers, etc) to improve their education. She learned how to use a computer in her mid-fifties and was an avid Facebook troller. She loved TV and was a big fan of Big Brother, Survivor, and Game Show network.
