Mary R. Goodwine Awendaw - Mrs. Mary Ravenell Goodwine, 88 of Awendaw, South Carolina, widow of the late Mr. James "Cleveland" Goodwine, transitioned peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2018, at East Cooper Medical Center, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, with her son, daughter and daughter-in-law present. Mary was born October 9, 1929, on See Wee Road in Awendaw, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Mrs. Louisa Ravenell White. She was a Domestic Worker, a lover of flowers, and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, church family, friends and those who have come to love and respect her as a mother. She attended school in Awendaw, South Carolina. Mary leaves to cherish fond memories and a life well-lived, her Son, Mr. Ronald A. Ravenell (Thelma B.); Daughter, Ms. Karen A. Ravenell of Awendaw, SC; Grandchildren; Ms. Rhonda A. Ravenell, Oklahoma City, OK, and Dr. Rahn A. Ravenell (Dr. Tamika B.), Mt. Pleasant, SC; Great-grandchildren, Rahn A. Ravenell, Jr. and Roman A. Ravenell of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Sister, Mrs. Sarah Sallie McClain (Reverend Edward A.), Charleston, SC; Stepchildren, Mrs. Laverne Bennett (Joseph), Cross, SC, Ms. Carolyn Goodwine, Bronx, NY, and Ms. Saundra Goodwine, Awendaw, SC; Sisters-in-law, Mrs. Isadora White, Charleston, SC, Mrs. Lillie White and Mrs. Eartha Lee Nesbitt of Awendaw, SC, and Mrs. Elaine Goodwine of Miami, FL; Brother-in-law, Mr. Joseph Ramsey, Awendaw, SC, and a huge number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and Special Friends too numerous to list. She was predeceased by her husband, Mr. James "Cleveland" Goodwine; Son, Charles Nolan Ravenell; Sister, Mrs. Josephine White Ramsey; Brothers, Reverend Dr. Alex White, Sr. and Reverend Dr. Arthur White, Sr.; Brother-in-law, Deacon Edward Goodwine, Sr.; Sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Goodwine; Stepchildren, Mr. James Goodwine and Mr. Earl Goodwine. The family would also like to acknowledge and extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Mt. Pleasant Roper Hospital (3-South and ICU), Franke Home at Seaside and East Cooper Medical Center for the professional compassionate and loving care provided to Mary during her stay or visit to these facilities. Funeral Service for Mrs. Mary Ravenell Goodwine will be held on Wednesday, June 6th, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at First See Wee Missionary Baptist Church, 5151 Highway 17-North, Awendaw, SC 29429, Reverend Jatorin A. Owens, Pastor. There will be no Wake Service.
