Mary Estelle Hawkins McCart
Summerville - Mary Estelle Hawkins McCart, 101, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Troy Howard McCart entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 26, 2026. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 6, 2026 at the Highland Park Baptist Church, 6211 Murray Drive at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends one hour following the service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Highland Park Baptist Church. Interment will be held on Tuesday April 7,2026 at Carolina Memorial Gardens 7113 Rivers Ave at 11:00am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
Mary was born April 11, 1924 in Newborn, Georgia, daughter of the late Roy Harlan Hawkins and the late Ollie Maude Davis Hawkins. Her life was marked by a deep devotion to her family, her faith, and the community around her. Mary's zest for life was evident in her many interests and pursuits. She found great joy in ceramics, creating beautiful works with her own hands that reflected her patience and creativity. Her love of nature blossomed in her flower arranging and the careful tending of her flowers, which brought color and warmth to her home and touched the hearts of many who admired her gardens. A lifelong pillar of her faith, Mary dedicated many years to teaching Sunday school at Highland Park Baptist Church; as well as teaching at Helen Creech's Kindergarten. Through her guidance and kindness, she nurtured the spiritual growth of countless children, and adults, instilling values of compassion and faithfulness. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness will remain in the memories of all who knew her. Mary Estelle Hawkins McCart's legacy is one of love, devotion, and quiet strength-a true testament to a life well-lived.
She is survived by children: Sylvia Patricia McCart Ammann (Larry) of Charleston, SC and Steven Phillip McCart Sr. (Sylesia) of Rockhill, SC; grandchildren: Lauren Raycroft (Ric), Andrea Boylan (Chris), Pamela Arbanas, Steven Phillip McCart Jr. (Anita), and Katie Scarlett McCart; great-granddaughters: Carolina Raycroft (Coulter), Mary Adeline Raycroft Seay (Taylor), Ashley Victoria Moore Severiano (Alex), Savannah Grace McCart, Rylee Cait McCart, and Emily Ann Garcia; great-grandsons: Steven "Mac" Phillip McCart, III, Tayton Lee Hayes, and Declan Bishop McCart; great great-grandchildren, Richard, Autumn, and Henry LaBoone.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by; sister, Eva McIntosh and brother, Roy Oscar Hawkins.
