Mary-Elizabeth Butler Obituary

NEW BEDFORD — Mary-Elizabeth Butler, 40, former resident of Narragansett, RI, died on April 12, 2007, at her parents home in New Bedford.

Mary Elizabeth was born April 8, 1967 in New Bedford, MA to Edward and Violet (Williams) Butler. She was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School, Rhode Island College and Bridgewater State College where she achieved her Master's of Education in Counseling. She was Director of Career Development at Salve Regina University, and traveled extensively as a hobby.

She is survived by her parents, Edward and Violet; her sisters, Erin (Butler) MacGuire of Glastonbury, CT and Patricia (Butler) Goff of Warwick, RI; and her brother, Edward Butler of South Yarmouth, MA.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to Hudner Oncology Center, St. Anne's Hospital, 795 Middle St., Fall River, MA 02720 or Hospice and Palliative Care, VNA of Southeastern Massachusetts, Inc., 502 Bedford St., Fall River, MA 02720. I remember working with Mary-Elizabeth at the NB library when she was in high school. She was such a beautiful young woman. My deepest sympathies to the family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. It has been so long since we last saw each other in high school. With this sad news today, I found myself looking back 22 years in time to our yearbook and remembering all of our friends and what great times we had.
