Mary Dawson Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Bulger Dawson McCLELLANVILLE - Mary Elizabeth Bulger Dawson, wife of Ted Dawson, died September 9, 2009 in an automobile accident. Elizabeth was born in Connecticut on November 12, 1940. She was a graduate of Southern Illinois University and was a high school English teacher and guidance councilor at Archibald Rutledge Academy for many years. In later years, she worked part time at the Sassafras Shop in McClellanville. She was chairman of the McClellanville Architectural Review Board, a member of the Board of The Village Museum, and secretary/treasurer to the McClellanville Civic Club. She was a loving wife, mother and friend, a true humanitarian. She is survived by: her husband; her daughter, Meghan Morrison Dawson of Fort Mill; her son, Major Philip Hugh Dawson of the U.S. Army in Germany; step children, Kathleen Constineau of Concord, Calif., Julie Thomas of Fillmore, Utah, and T. C. "Skip" Dawson III of Walnut Creek, Calif.; two sisters, Susan Woods of Des Moines, Iowa and Ann Carroll of San Diego, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, and six step-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, September 12 from 6 to 7 pm at New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church and funeral services at 3 pm Sunday, September 13 also at New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church in McClellanville.
