BRAVEK, Mary Funeral services for Mary Bravek, 78, of Chamberlain will be Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain, SD with burial in St. Margaret's Catholic Cemetery at Kimball, SD. Visitation will be Monday, October 22 at the HICKEY-WEVIK FUNERAL CHAPEL IN CHAMBERLAIN, SC, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A scripture service will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain. Mary T. Florio was born on January 5, 1929 to John and Bertha (Schutt) Florio at Charleston, SC. Mary received her Bachelor's Degree from the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC while also working for the Naval Shipyard in Charleston. After graduation from college, she taught school in Louisiana before moving to South Dakota to teach at St. Joseph's Indian School. Mary was united in marriage to Paul Bravek, Sr. of Kimball, SD on January 16, 1961 in Chamberlain. They were active for several years in farming in the Kimball area. In 1981, Mary and her family moved to Chamberlain where she resided until her death. Mary was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain and was an active advocate of the Right to Life. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary passed away on October 19, 2007 at Sanford Mid Dakota Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 78 years. Gratefully sharing in her life are her children Charlie Bravek of Kimball, SD, Pauline Sweet and husband Keith of Pukwana, SD, and Paul Bravek and Mike Bravek both of Chamberlain; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Clementa Florio of Wadmalaw Island, SC and Jeanette Florio of Summerville, SC; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on August 1, 1990; three brothers Herman, Tony, and Johnny; an infant sister; and a grandson Jesse Bravek.
