Dear Bradham Family, I loved your Mother so very much. I am sitting in my Den looking at two beautiful paintings Mary Jane presented to me on my wedding day. They have been a treasure to me for the past seventeen years. Your mother made the world a better place by just being here. I know she is in heaven having a grand time and I plan to see her when my time comes. Riley, I'll make sure Lisa receives your mothers paintings when I leave. I know she will cherish them as much as I do. God bless you all and much love,
Jeanie Arnold Schwier

In her art, Mary Jane's sharp eye, steady hand, and close observation of the Lowcountry's natural world led her, for example, to use a single-bristled brush to paint the speculum of a summer duck's wing for days on end. In her life, she was just as wise, attentive, and insistent on realism. To her sons, their wives, her seven grandchildren, and many others, she leaves behind a treasure trove of generosity and resilience of spirit that they will remember and love for many years to come.
