Mary Beckham Obituary

BECKHAM, Mary COLUMBIA, SC - Funeral Services for Mary W. Beckham, 82, of Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2007 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Greenlawn Funeral Home. Mrs. Beckham, widow of Joseph Barnes Beckham, Jr., passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007. She was born August 4, 1925 in Florence, SC to the late Harold McKiver Wilson and Emma Haynie Wilson. Mrs. Beckham was raised in Sumter, SC and graduated from Edmunds High School. In the 1940's she was named Miss Shaw Field . Mrs. Beckham later worked at the VA Hospital and volunteered as a social worker at the state hospital. She was active in the community and was recognized as a Lifetime PTA Member. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a fabulous cook. Mrs. Beckham always enjoyed spending time with her family. Singing, dancing and laughing were her greatest joys. Mrs. Beckham is survived by her daughter, Becky Moran and her husband, Dennis of Charleston; sons, Haynie W. Beckham of Columbia; Jody and Jenni Beckham of Columbia; grandchildren, Emmie Williams and her husband Charley of Charleston, Abbey Moran of Charleston and Tara Honeycutt of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Carolina, Cody, Matthew and Pressley; and her sister Julia W. Fennell of Sumter, SC. Mrs. Beckham was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband; and two brothers, Ralph H. Wilson and Haynie McKiver Wilson.
