A woman of many interests and talents, she taught kindergarten, owned a business, was a collector, and channeled her creativity through painting, needlework and basket making, she enjoyed golf and especially her two hole in ones! Throughout their marriage, they lived in Indianapolis, IN; Roanoke, VA; London, England; New Canaan, CT; San Juan, Puerto Rico and finally settled in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. She was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where she and Gene deepened their faith and friendships were formed. For over 50 years, cherished memories have been made at the annual vacation to Holden Beach with her ever growing family and extended family. Mary Anne was a very dear friend from years ago in Kiawah. We golfed together laughed together and enjoyed many meals in Gene and Mary Anne´s home. I have several baskets and trays that I cherish and remember vividly the continual help I received from both of them while learning how to make them in their garage. I cold go on about many great stories of times spent with the Witchgers. I love you both. Gene I send you many hugs in remembrance of our friendship. God bless. Carole and John Manning

I was lucky to get one of the Nantucket basket purses that Mary Anne and Gene made in their retirement at Kiawah. I still smile and think of her whenever anyone compliments it. She was a warm, kind lady that I was glad to call a friend.

Gene, I´m not sure that you know us, but occasionally we´d speak after church. I was so saddened to hear of your wife´s death. What a super woman she was. I wish I knew of all her
Accomplishments before now. She certainly had a full life. The
Two of you looked so devoted to one another. I know you will
Miss her greatly. You are in our thoughts & prayers.

There are no words to express my sorrow for you Gene and your family. Mary Anne was a fighter and a role model for all of us. Loved working with her as a volunteer counter at Holy Spirit. God´s blessings on all of you.
