Martha Migliaccio Obituary

Martha Christiana (Christi) Mixson Migliaccio MEGGETT, SC - Christi Mixson Migliaccio, 53, of Meggett, SC, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2015. She died surrounded by family and friends, after an inspirational battle with breast cancer. She was a committed Christian. She was born on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1961, in Sherman, TX. After graduating from Clemson University in 1983, she went on to work for more than 25 years in her dream occupation as a flight attendant for US Airways. After signing her twin sons up with a local troop in Charlotte, NC, she began a second career as a leader with the Boy Scouts of America. Christi devoted 13 years to Scouting, both in Charlotte and Charleston, SC. She served as the Southern Region International Representative and earned multiple top adult leadership honors. She was a member of the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood, and was instrumental in helping start Ship 50 of the Sea Scouts in Charleston. In 2011, she was presented the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, a distinguished service award for adult leaders who have made a profound impact on the lives of youth. Christi is preceded in death by her father, Leonard F. Mixson, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Louis Migliaccio, sons, Christopher and Nicholas Migliaccio, and her mother, Martha Britt Mixson, all of Meggett, SC; a brother, Mark Mixson and his wife Farryl, of Princeton Junction, NJ; a sister, Tracy Mixson, of Asheville, NC; two nephews and two nieces; beloved family friend, Sheila Hutchens, of Chattanooga, TN; and many friends throughout the world. Two celebrations of life are planned in the Charleston area. The first will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Christ Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 4981 Chapel Rd., Hollywood, SC, 29449, on what would have been Christi's 54th birthday. The Coastal Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts will sponsor a second service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Camp Ho Non Wah, 2609 Boy Scout Rd., Wadmalaw Island, SC, 29487. The family suggests donations be made to the Christi Migliaccio Memorial Fund, Coastal Carolina Council, 1025 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston, SC, 29407-3441 or call (803) 763-0305.
