Martha McFadden Obituary

Martha McFadden MT. PLEASANT - Martha McFadden, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1 2017 at SandPiper Rehab and Nursing, Mt. Pleasant, SC. Martha was born September 23rd, 1921 in Lovejoy, IL, one of 7 children of the late Simon and Lena Nesbit. She leaves behind a son, John (Kathy) of Charleston, SC a granddaughter Katie McFadden of Great Falls, MT, 3 grandsons, Dan, Brian and Chad Hawksley, 2 brothers Bill Nesbit of Greensburg, IN and Al Nesbit of Farmington, NM and a sister in law Rosie McFadden of Reseda, CA. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray and daughter Kay. Martha attended Monmouth College in Illinois, and was a member of Alpha Sigma. She continued her career as a teacher in Indiana. Ray and Martha spent many years in Angola, IN and Lake James where they made many friends and attended the Angola Methodist Church. In 1985 they retired to Clearwater Florida until moving to Charleston, SC in 2006. Martha loved being around the water whether it be Lake James or the ocean. She enjoyed being outdoors and watching the birds and nature. She was involved with her church in Angola and Clearwater through many volunteer activities. While in Charleston she enjoyed attending Piano and Symphony concerts. The family would like to thank Nicky Dennis and Denise Harris from Piedmont Hospice for their love and care for their mother. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Dementia Society of America. Arrangements provided by Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.
