Martha Boyd Obituary

Martha Cousar Boyd Charleston - Martha English Cousar Boyd of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 11:00 am. Martha was born on January 28, 1967, in Durham, North Carolina, to Laura Clement and George Richard Cousar, Jr. She moved with her family to Greenville, South Carolina, as a young infant. She attended Shannon Forest Christian School, Beck Middle School, and graduated from J.L. Mann High School in 1985. Martha was a graduate of Salem College in Winston Salem, North Carolina, class of 1989, and spent her junior year of college studying at the University of Grenoble, France. Martha moved to Chicago, Illinois, after college and worked for Goldenberg Hehmeyer Trading Company at the Chicago Board of Trade until 1991. She then moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where she completed a BS degree in Nursing at MUSC. Martha had a most rewarding 25-year career at Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals in many areas of nursing including ICU, Urology and as an OR Circulating Nurse. She was beloved by innumerable patients, their families, and her many co-workers. Martha was preceded in death by her dear father, and is survived by her beloved husband, William Edley Boyd; her mother; sister, Catharine Cousar Perkins; and many nieces and nephews.
