Martha Ballentine Obituary

Martha Burnette Ballentine Blythewood, SC - Martha Burnette Ballentine, 92, of Blythewood, S.C., gained her heavenly wings on December 18th. The daughter of the late Jesse Lee Burnette and Floy Phillips Burnette of Greer, S.C., she is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Chaplain W. Wayne Ballentine, and siblings, Laurene Burnette, Etta Leonard, and Don Burnette. She is survived by her four children, Barry Ballentine, Cary Ballentine (Brenda), Ann Bishop (Steve), and Dennis Ballentine (Kellie), as well as grandchildren, Meghan Ballentine, Walter Ballentine, Brittany Bishop, Amanda Bishop, and Mary Kathryn Ballentine and great-grandchild, Ansleigh Sanders. Martha was a member of Trinity Unity Methodist church in Blythewood, S.C., where she was previously an active member in the United Methodist Women and church choir. As the spouse of a United Methodist minister, she also served many years as a secretary, choir director, organist, and pianist at many churches throughout their family's years in ministry. She loved growing flowers and cooking special meals for her family. The Ballentine family would like to extend a sincere and special thank you to each and every staff member at The Palmettos of Parklane, where Martha received extraordinary care. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood, S.C. A memorial service will be held at one o'clock on Wednesday, December 22nd. A private graveside service will be held immediately following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Hand Bell Choir, 90 Boney Road, Blythewood, SC, 29016.
