Marlene was born June 12, 1938, in Waukegan, IL, daughter of the late James Dominic Bernardi and Florence Constance Staranowicz Bernardi. She was a graduate of Holy Child Catholic High School in Waukegan, Il. Marlene was devout in her faith and active in her parish and served as a Eucharist Minister at St. Theresa of the Little Flower Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to Summerville Catholic School, 226 Black Oak Blvd., Summerville, SC 29485. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, her oldest daughter, Ann Marie Norris (David), and her brother, Gerald Bernardi (Pam, deceased). She is survived by three daughters and one son; Connie Burnett of Palm Desert, CA, Paul Martens (Emily) of Nolensville, TN, Patty Swift (John) of Maiden, NC and Caroline Martens of Summerville, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews and 4 nieces; and a brother-in-law, John Martens (Maggie) of Lake Geneva, WS.
