I always remember Mark....a great person!

I remember a gentle, witty, humorous man with a generous spirit and an arresting way of beholding the world. He is missed.

John and I were shocked and so very saddened to learn of Mark's death. What a lovely human being! Always welcoming, never in too much of a rush to speak, wildly and wonderfully creative (like you, John) , and a lover of RCMH. Thankful to have known him, for the happy memories, and so sad I will not see him again in this life. "I always thought I would see you again." John, holding you in my thoughts.

Mark has been a blessing beyond words to us, always joyeous and so loving. We will miss him and love him always.

Mark was one of the sweetest people I came across at CofC, that is besides you John. I will always treasure my memories working under him in the Media Relations office. He was a fantastic mentor and dear friend. I'm heartbroken that I never got the chance to get back down south and spend time with you both. John, I'm sending my love and prayers to you during this time and know you will never be far from my thoughts.

I will miss Mark's wit and the love and the fun he shared. So happy we got to spend time together after all those years at Cristobal High School. Sympathy to the family.

Words cannot begin to express how much Greg and I love Mark and John! We always said they were our best couple's friends. This picture of Mark is probably the only time I have ever seen him not smiling or laughing...I will miss him so, yet cannot help but smile when thinking about him.RIP

Mark was a fine gentleman, humorous and wise, with a generous heart.

I can't seem to find the words to say how I feel about the loss of Mark. Memories keep coming to me, and every time they do, I have to remind myself I am not going to see him again. He was my friend, and I'm going to miss him.

I looked up to him when I was at CoC. A very inspirational human being. A very human...human being. I worked in film for a number of years. I must say...his influence was always there.

Mark will be forever in my heart. He was the most joy-full person I've ever known, a wonderful mentor, and a fun fellow film fan. Rest in peace, my dear.

Mark always had a welcoming smile, with interest in the other, and something interesting to say. His memory will live on. John and his family and friends will be in our thoughts.

Mark was one of the brightest lights I have ever had the privilege of knowing. His unstinting generosity of spirit and good will to all was an inspiration for everyone around him. I shall miss his presence, his stories, and his outrageous (although always heartfelt and genuine) compliments.

John, I cannot imagine your sorrow, and I will always hold the vision of the two of you in my heart as the perfect expression of love and devotion, and as the model to which we should all aspire.

Mark was truly a wonderful, caring person. I feel so fortunate to have known him for 57 years. Prayers and thoughts are with John and the entire family.

What a lovely, lovely man. He was a very special part of my time at C of C. May God's peace be with his family.

I remember Mark and John so very fondly from our days at the College of Charleston. I am so sorry that he has left us. He was a very sweet, gentle and clever person and he will be missed.

John, my heart hurts for you. What a loss to our world to see Mark pass from it. He was a loving, kind, generous person. It was a privilege to know him and work in collaboration with him when I was Executive Director at the Charleston Area Arts Council. I will never forget his caring manner and concern for all...nor his wit and humor!

So sad to hear the news. I always valued Mark and John's friendship. I bragged at work about keeping in touch with one of my favorite teachers from college. It amazed me that his spirit was always so youthful and full of life. His joy of the world was an inspiration to me. To repeat his some of his last words:
"you are a gift", Mark.
