Mark Pilgrim Obituary

Mark Robert Pilgrim, beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, one day before his 73rd birthday. Born on August 24, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, Mark was the son of Robert and Patricia Pilgrim. He carried their legacy of kindness, integrity, and hard work throughout his life. Mark earned his bachelor's degree from Washington & Jefferson University, setting the foundation for a long and dedicated career. He worked for many years at Santee Cooper, where he formed lifelong friendships and was known for his dedication and reliability. A loyal and loving husband, Mark shared more than four decades of marriage with his wife, Carolyn Pilgrim. Together, they built a life rich with joy, laughter, and adventure. Mark loved nothing more than traveling with Carolyn, relaxing by the beach at her side, or tending to their huge yard together. Their bond was strong, steady, and deeply rooted in love. Mark was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed golfing with his work buddies, always bringing humor to the game. He was also a skilled handyman and painter, crafting with care and creativity. He was a passionate Duke basketball fan, rarely missing a game and always ready to cheer on the Blue Devils. He will be remembered not only for his talents and dedication but for the strength of his character; a good man, humble and generous, who brought warmth to those around him. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Pilgrim; his brothers: David Pilgrim of Bamberg, SC and Kevin Pilgrim (Judy) of Pittsburgh, PA; his niece and nephew: Kristin MacDonald (Tom) and Josh Thorp (Suzi); as well as his great nieces and nephew: Lauren Markley, Thomas Markley, and Olivia Thorp.
