Mark Odum Obituary

Mark Hartman Odum WALTERBORO - Mark Hartman Odum, son of the late Roger Clark Odum of Walterboro, SC and Nora Hartman Odum who resides in Aiken, SC, entered into eternal rest with Jesus on March 19, 2014. Mark was happily married to Tami Leigh Crosby for twenty-two years, a loving father of five beautiful children, and Papa to three precious grands! Nobody LOVED LIFE or enjoyed living it more than Mark Odum! He was a racer of motorcycles, drag cars, speed boats, and anything with horse power! The man even excelled in barrel racing at one time! With a zest for life, and a love of laughter, he entered into Heaven with a smile on his face, at the top of his game, and doing what he loved! While he enjoyed his love of deep sea fishing, it was at his boat where he left this earth loving life...thereby, he will be remembered as he had lived! On one of his drag cars he had written: "Everybody dies, but not Everybody LIVES!" This guy truly skidded into home base shouting, "WOW! What a ride!" The only drawback is that he left such a large void for so many who loved him and enjoyed his laughter, his beloved wife, Tami Crosby Odum; his eldest son, Roger Odum and daughter-in-law Lindsey, along with their precious children McKayla and Mark Austin; his oldest daughter, whom he loved so much (and called out to even when he just had sniffles) as she was a great comfort to her daddy, Lee Odum-Fisk and her precious son Hartman; his soon-to-wed son, Austin Odum and his future bride, Miss Jennie Braham; his "sunshine" and daughter who attends Ole Miss, Savannah Odum; and his beloved baby girl Mickael Odum, a clone of her father who he referred to as his hero. Though we so desire in God's plan to leave this earth before our children do...Mark leaves behind his beloved mother, Nora H. Odum. Mark also leaves his best friend, business partner, and beloved brother, Timothy Clark Odum. They were an infamous tag-team from the beginning! No one will ever fill Mark's shoes here! Also, he leaves Tim's wife, Robin R. Odum, their children: Clark Odum and wife Meredith, Tyler Odum and wife Rachael, and his happy-go-lucky nephew, Chase; Mark's great-nephew, Cash Odum and soon to join them, Tradd Odum. All these are of Walterboro, SC. Mark was also the brother of the late Michael Roger Odum, who the family lost over ten years ago. Mark's surviving nephews are Jake and Kyle Odum of Greenville, SC. Additionally, Mark leaves his only sister, Robin Odum Shea and her husband Michael Shea of Evans, GA. Mark was her baby brother and always will be as he was loved, doted on, and cherished as a jokester! His surviving nephew, Matthew Pugliese and wife Shannon reside in Germany, with great nephew and niece, Gabriel and Elliana. His surviving niece, Ashley Pugliese Thompson and spouse, Micah, reside in Columbia, SC, along with his great nephews, Graham and Hudson. Finally, Mark leaves a long-loved cousin, Mrs. Cindy Bowers Hopkins and her husband Ken, along with multiple in-laws and friends from the Crosby, Smith, and Drawdy families. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Doctor's Creek Baptist Church, with burial following in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to "Set Apart Youth Ministry" at First Baptist Church in Walterboro at 124 S. Memorial Avenue, Walterboro, SC 29488 or The Calista Lynn Smith Educational Endowment at 4677 Low Country Hwy, Yemassee, SC 29945. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston
