I worked with Marion several years ago. Often times in our profession your paths cross and then you move on. Not with Marion, despite a nearly 20 year age difference we connected as friends. I will look back fondly on our conversations and appreciate his friendship. He was a great person who loved his family and friends dearly. I will miss him very much as I know many others will. God bless.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I never had the opportunity to meet Marion but I was very blessed that his brother Mike sought me out at my grandmother's (Vonnie Planton) funeral. My mother told me many stories of the 3 boys hanging out with the "Planton crew" with my Uncle Rick having a close relationship with Marion.
I am sending my deepest condolences to your entire family from my mother in heaven, Jan Planton O'Neal, and my family.

To the Smith Family,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Marion. I remember him as a sweet little boy with golden blonde hair playing in the neighborhood of Welch Ave. In Riverland Terrace! I admire his devotion to his Faith & his family. You will be in my thoughts & prayers.

So sorry to hear of Marion's passing. Always enjoyed our time together playing golf, joking about our respective games, and watching his poker playing antics with his close buddies while up in Santee for the annual No Name Tournament! We will all miss him next month, but I am sure that Tournament Commissioner, Pat Runey, will arrange something special in his honor.

Marion was my special buddy ever since we were on the Parish Council together.
He always greeted me with a big smile and a hug whenever I saw him.
My last remembrance of Marion is after Mass on Christmas Eve holding Melissa and smiling ear to ear as he showed her to me. God Bless!

Our condolence to the Smith family. We are saddened by the loss of Marion, but we know we will be together again. Marion was Ram Tough with his battle with cancer, He was a genuine friend and leaves a legacy for his family to be proud. I know he was greeted in heaven by his best Riverland Terrace friends Warren Hogue and Preston Mizzell.
God bless the Smith family.

Marion was a great friend, and it's hard to imagine Charleston without him. Much love to you, Ann, and your wonderful family.

Marion was a close business partner and even a closer friend. During the 10 years I knew Marion it was obvious he was the perfect model of having his Faith and Family as his top two priorities in life. I am confident when Marion met with Jesus on January 22nd that Jesus said "I know you and come sit at the table I have prepared for you." I will miss my friend and forever keep our memories.
