Marion Knight Obituary

Marion Humphrey Knight TIMMONSVILLE, SC - Marion Humphrey Knight, 80, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Knight was born in Timmonsville, SC on January 22, 1934, a son of the late Arlene and Hazel Knight. He is survived by his children, Denny H. Knight and Robin K. Cox; two grandchildren, Jenna L. Knight and Lindsey C. Anthony; a beloved son-in-law, Charles E. Cox, Jr.; one brother, Ronald Knight; and two sisters, Myrna Hardy and Gail Carroll. Marion loved his children, grandchildren and always loved his wife, Lillie Mae Knight of many years. He loved NASCAR, Gamecock football and baseball. He was voted most mischievous in high school and attended Clemson University but was a diehard Gamecock fan. Marion worked at West Virginia Pulp and Paper in Charleston, SC before going into business for himself. He developed his pest control business from the ground up where his customers became his friends. Before his health declined, he loved to take his wife to southern gospel concerts in his motor home. He never met a stranger and always enjoyed talking to anyone who would listen. Marion appreciated all of his Physicians at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that kept him living as long as he did, since he was told he would die as a young man. He was a strong willed man to live as long as he did and left this earth just as he had prayed he would leave - on his terms. Peaceful in the country where he still felt like he was a farmer. Thanks to all the many family and friends that checked on him daily sometimes more than daily. Much thanks to Ike and his beautiful wife, Phyllis and the many friends that drove him from his country home to MUSC. He had so many health issues that it will always amaze us that he lived to be 80 years old with a mind that was still sharp as a young man. Marion also could make the best barbeque in the world. Most of all, he knew GOD was in charge and he would take him when he needed him more. He now walks with his wife, father and mother free of pain. The family will receive friends 1:00-3:00 PM Friday, May 23, 2014 at Brockington Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Bethany Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Holling's Cancer Center C/O MUSC Foundation; 18 Bee St., MSC 450, Charleston, SC 29425 An online condolence page is available at www.brockingtonfh.com. Our prayers, thoughts and condolences are with the entire family. Robin, I never met your Dad...but I feel like I knew him personally because you talked about him often. I know he will be missed. He is still with you in spirit and memories. God knows all things and He is too wise to make a mistake. To the Knight and Cox family, we love you. From the Benjamin family: Franklin, Theresa, Michael and BJ

Mr Knight was one of my favorite patients. He would come to see Dr Fox and always have the first appt. but would show up way early and somehow always managed to charm me into taking him even earlier. When I lost my dog last year, Mr Knight was so sweet and understanding and comforting to me. We really loved him at MUSC! We will iss him, Carole Yates
