Marion Jones Obituary

JONES, JR., Marion SUMTER, SC - Marion Walton Jim Jones, Jr., 78, husband of Nina Herring Jones, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at his home. Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Marion Walton Jones, Sr. and the late Alma Estelle Brunson Jones. Mr. Jones retired from the Carolina Coca-Cola Bottling Co. after thirty-eight years of service. Following his retirement he was a member of the Sumter-Chrysler Driver Team. He was a Presbyterian. Survivors besides his wife include three children, Nancy E. Bickley and her husband, Gerry of Newberry, Dottie J. Black and her husband, Chris of Sumter, and David Jones and his wife, Kelli of Florence; six grandchildren, Eric Bickley, Heidi Powell, Mark Black, Patrick Black, Brad Jones, and Zac Jones; three great-grandchildren, Gary, Brady, and Shyanne; one step son, J.D. Polin and his wife, Sandra of Charleston; two step daughters, Lynne P. Dyches of Easley, and Faye P. Looney and her husband, Tim of Columbia; six step-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; one sister, Alma Baker of Sumter; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jernigan Jones, and a brother, Hazel Jones. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Joe Peak officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home 21 Lesesne Drive.
