Marie Miller Obituary

Marie Miller WALTERBORO, SC - Mrs. Marie Miller, age 86, of Colleton County, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024. Marie was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on August 20, 1937. She grew up in North Charleston and graduated from North Charleston High School. Marie met the love of her life and her soul mate, Donald, on a blind date in 1955. They knew they were destined to spend the rest of their lives together and were married the next year. Marie worked for MUSC, Citizens & Southern National Bank, and others over the years. She retired in 2001 after 16 years with Asten Johnson to enjoy travel, crafting and the company of family and loved ones. Marie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walterboro and served in many areas of church leadership, including Bible teacher in the adult ladies Sunday school. She also served in numerous leadership positions on the South Carolina Woman's Missionary Union Executive Board. She had a heart for others and was surrounded by the love and care of many, many dear friends, neighbors and family members. And she always had a smile and a hug for them all. Marie is survived by her sister, Louise Mizell Theall of Manteca, CA; her two sons, Craig Miller of Covington, GA, and Byron (Kim) Miller of Charleston, SC; granddaughters, Reagan Elizabeth Miller & Carlisle Rebecca Miller of Charleston, SC; a great-grandson, Griffin Donald Lanham of Walterboro, SC; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Miller; parents, Harry James Mizell and Vergie Rebecca Mixon Mizell; brother, William Franklin Mizell; and granddaughter, Ashlyn Miller Lanham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First Baptist Church of Walterboro, 124 S Memorial Ave., Walterboro, SC 29488 or to the Woman's Missionary Union Foundation at https://wmufoundation.com. The Relatives and Friends of Marie Mizell Miller are invited to remember her life as funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, June 14, 2024, from the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, 124 South Memorial Avenue, Walterboro.
