MC KERNAN
AGE: 85 WALL
Marie Connolly McKernan, 85, of Wall, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, at home, surrounded by many family members and loyal friends from Jersey City, Ferris High School, and College. Marie was born and raised in Jersey City, and lived in Weehawken for many years before moving to Wall six years ago. She was a graduate of the Academy of Saint Aloysius, the College of Saint Elizabeth, as well as Columbia University, where she earned her M.B.A. Marie worked for McGraw-Hill Publishing in New York for 10 years before becoming a teacher at James J. Ferris High School in Jersey City, where she taught for 26 years.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Alice Gallagher Connolly; her husband William; her infant daughter, Mary Patricia; and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her cousins, the Connolly, Gallagher, Crowley, Hayes, Johanson, Weisner, Fitzgerald and Fitzpatrick families.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m Wednesday, June 2 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3 at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake. Committal will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. We are very sorry for the loss of Marie.She was a grand lady. She will be missed by many. Regrettably we will not be able to attend.The family is making a donation in Marie's name to The Saint Jude Foundation.

Ms. McKernan was my typing teacher-she's the reason I did well in business working for physicians because I could type well. I will miss her. Sher was a wonderful person and teacher. RIP Ms. McKernan
