Mariano Florendo Obituary

Mariano De Leon Florendo SUMMERVILLE - Mariano De Leon Florendo, age 64, of Summerville, husband of Gilda Manzano-Florendo, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Mr. Florendo was born in the Philippines, son of Mariano and Pacita De Leon Florendo. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy where he retired as a Senior Chief after 26 years. He was a Medical Services Officer with Military Sealift Command, a member of the Masons, and received his Masters Degree from Phoenix University. Mr. Florendo is survived by his wife, Gilda Florendo; one son, Ignacio Florendo (Janelle) of Summerville; two daughters, Maureen Harper (Richard) of Greenwich, CT and Alejandria Catindig (Enrique) of Mount Pleasant, SC; four sisters, Zenaida Presto of Chicago, IL, Teresita Villanueva of the Philippines and Rosario Manders of Los Angeles, CA, Natividad Santos of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by three precious grandchildren, Benjamin Harper, Sofia Catindig and Owen Harper. The family will be receiving friends for visitation on Friday, February 4, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., in the GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL OF MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 869 St. James Avenue. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 11:30 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Charleston Branch, 269 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401 or online at www.cancer.org.
