Marianne Moore Obituary

MOORE, Marianne Marianne Knowles Moore of Summerville, 79, widow of John W. Moore, died at her home in Summerville, SC, on February 23, 2007. Born in Steubenville, Ohio, on December 20, 1927. Mrs. Moore was the daughter of Arthur Knowles and Alice Addison Knowles. She moved to Charleston and Summerville as a girl with her parents and siblings when her father took employment at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. A graduate of Summerville High School, she was employed during World War II at the Charleston Army Air Force Base prior to her marriage to John W. Moore of Summerville. She was a homemaker in Summerville for 60 years, the mother of five children, and grandmother of three. She was a generous friend of her Gum Street neighbors and a parishioner of Saint John the Beloved Catholic Church. Mrs. Moore is survived by her sister Audrey Knowles Lisenby of Summerville and brother Arthur Knowles of Orange County, CA, five children, John Alexander Moore and his wife Suzanne Marie Krebsbach, Michael O'Conner Moore and his wife Barbara Holland Moore, Marianne Moore Read, Timothy William Moore, and Thomas Patrick Moore and his wife Starlette Moore, and three grandchildren, Justin O'Connor Moore, Allison Bryn Moore, and Alexandra Clair Moore. A Funeral Mass in her memory will be celebrated 9 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Saint John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Street, Summerville, SC. She will be interred beside her late husband at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston, SC. Prayers and family visitation will be Monday evening, February 26, 2007, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Parks Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. Arrangements by PARKS FUNERAL HOME, 130 West First North St., Summerville, SC 29483.
