Marianna Elizabeth DiGiacomo Egan Charleston - Marianna Elizabeth DiGiacomo Egan, 98 years old, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2022, in Charleston, South Carolina. Marianna was born on Lincoln Street, Ithaca, New York, on August 25, 1924, to Camillo and Jarusha Seea DiGiacomo, the youngest of seven children. She proudly grew up in Fall Creek and on the family farm in West Dryden. Working at many jobs through the years, she worked at Ithaca Gun Company during World War II, was the Human Resources Director at Woolworth's when the store first came to Ithaca, assisted in the cafeteria at Immaculate Conception School and retired from NCR Corporation. Marianna and her husband Bill Egan moved to Charleston in 1990. She returned to Ithaca following Bill's death in 2002 and returned to Charleston in 2006, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law on James Island. Besides her parents and husband, Marianna was predeceased by her daughter, Joan Dubock Case; granddaughter, Bonnie Joseph Everts; brothers and sisters, Mabel Mabee, Joseph DiGiacomo, Edward DiGiacomo, Nellie Farkas, Camilla Auble and Luigi DiGiacomo as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Dubock Osgood of Trumansburg, New York, Tammela Egan Suggs (Daniel) of James Island and Tommy Egan of Folly Beach; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Marianna donated many gallons of blood to the Red Cross; was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca, the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary in Ithaca and James Island, American Legion in Ithaca and James Island, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Moose Club in Ithaca over the years. Due to Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca, NY, being closed for refurbishment, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road, James Island, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A Funeral Service will also be held Saturday at Bangs Funeral Home in Ithaca, NY, with the Rite of Committal following at Calvary Cemetery in Ithaca. The family wishes to express many thanks to Mom's angel, Emily Pogue, who sat with her daily and took such great care, House Calls, Home Health and Agape Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church (Ithaca), Nativity School, The Church of Nativity (James Island), VFW 445 Auxiliary or a charity of your choice.
