Marian Schmelter Obituary

Marian Jensen Schmelter MT. PLEASANT - Marian Jensen Schmelter, 92, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, was peacefully called to be with her Heavenly Father at 9:28AM on January 3, 2022. Marian is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Raymond William Schmelter, and a loving mother to her two sons, Dean (Karen) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Peter (Kelly) of Sudbury, MA; grand-children, Garrett Schmelter (Meghan) of James Island, South Carolina; Lauren Cox (Robbie) of Mount Pleasant; Keith and Emmy Schmelter of Sudbury, MA; and great-grandmother to Landon and Connor. Ray and Marian met while students at Escanaba High School in Escanaba, Michigan. There she found her passion for art and was asked to paint several props for the theater group. She had many fond memories of her early years in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and was always a proud to tell people she was a "Yooper". Once settled in the New England area, Marian became an active member of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration. With her growing love of antiques she became proficient on the art of reverse glass painting on restored antique clocks. She became locally renowned for her exceptional work and detail, bringing so many antiques back to life with her incredible talent. To this day so many people's homes across the United States have been graced with Marian's work on various restored antiques. No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned.
