Margie Childress Obituary

Wilma "Margie" Harley Childress, 79, of Summerville, SC, formerly of Eutawville, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening in a local nursing facility. Her funeral will be 11:00 AM Monday morning, October 6, 2025, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in the Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Monday. Born on February 1, 1946, in Beaufort, SC, Margie was the daughter of Clifford Harley and Monteene Randall Harley. She was a woman of quiet strength and enduring faith, attending the Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church. In her younger years, she was a Rainbow Girl and a proud member of the Eastern Star in Beaufort, as well as an active participant in the former YMCA in Moncks Corner. Margie found joy in life's simple pleasures-crocheting delicate patterns and solving word puzzles with care and curiosity. She dedicated her working years to the Seabrook Island Post Office and National Water Lift, where her reliability and warmth left a lasting impression. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Childress; her son, Thomas C. Peer; her sister, Palma Dearing; her brothers, Clifford Harley and James Patrick Harley; and her grandson, Lenny Tanner Margie's legacy lives on through her family: her son, Daniel James Tanner and his wife Lori Varner of Deltona, FL; her sister, Anne Mitchum of Eutawville; eight grandchildren-Gabby Tanner, Tony Tanner, Dominick Tanner, Tiffany Peer, Tommy Hill, Jadon Berkowitz, and Nick Berkowitz; and five great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy. Margie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life. To send a flower arrangement in memory of Margie H.
