Hi Marni,

It takes a while to get the word out to California, but I was saddened to hear about Walker's death. I kept thinking that I would see one or both of you when I visited Mother at Laurel Crest, but the timing never worked out.

My thoughts and prayers are with you belatedly.

Jack, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and Walker is in my heart today as I absorb this news.

Walker had one of the most vivid personalities of anyone I've known. I worked with her many years ago, at Film in the Cities, and can still call to mind her free-flowing laughter and freely expressed opinions on wide-ranging topics. She raised my spirits--and my eyebrows--on many occasions... Most of all, I remember her unfailing kindness, which included hosting a baby shower for me as I somewhat nervously approached the birth of my first son. She had wit and style, and she exuded confidence. To me, she embodied the the notion of having 'the courage of one's convictions.' She also had a heart of gold.

You are in my thoughts.

I met Walker when I was a new employee at a local restaurant. I made a mistake with Walker's order, and she was not shy about showing her disappointment. However, I did learn a good lesson about the importance of pleasing the customer, especially because the customer was Walker Pearce.

Jack & family: What a blow. Our hearts are heavy this day. Walker was genuinely authentic, equally opinionated and informed--a fierce advocate for truth and social justice. She will be dearly missed, but she leaves in us her laughter, her wit, her friendship and her voracious love of life.

Jack and family,
Walker was so loved and admired by so very many people. She was a light and brightness of spirit and strength and strident proponent of human rights. I will miss her easy laughter and jaunty attitude.
