Margaret O'Keefe Obituary

Margaret O'Keefe Charleston - Margaret M. O'Keefe, 91, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on January 18, 2016. The relatives and friends of Ms. Margaret M. O'Keefe are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends this Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with the rosary recited at 6:30 PM, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. Her guestbook may be signed at CharlestonFunerals.com. Margaret was born in Charleston, South Carolina on March 25, 1924, a daughter of Francis Raymond and Margaret Simmonds O'Keefe. She graduated from Bishop England High School and St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing, and after working a few years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, she returned to Charleston as the Health Director for the School of Nursing. Margaret also joined the obstetrics and pediatrics nursing staff at St. Francis Xavier Hospital, where she worked and became Nursing Supervisor until her retirement in 1986. She is survived by her sister, Frances O. O'Leary, nephews, Kevin J. O'Leary and Martin G. O'Leary and his wife, Elizabeth, and her niece, Frances Ramona "Mona" O'Leary. Memorial donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Building Fund, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston, SC 29407. Arrangements by James A. McAlister Inc. 766-1365.
