Margaret McMillan Obituary

Margaret Grace Johnson McMillan Charleston - Born August 16, 1924, went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 4:55 PM. She was pre-decreased by Husband Ellis Goodwin McMillan, Sr. her mother Elnita Routilla Gore Johnson, father John Quincy Johnson, Brother John Quincy Jr, Sisters Jeanola Thompson, Louise Smith, JoAnn Smith, Georgia Loretta Rabon, Myrtle Ussleman, daughter Jeanette Marion Jeffords, and son Joseph Leon McMillan. Born in Aynor SC, she graduated from Socastee High School as Salutatorian and received a full scholarship to Winthrop College. She moved to Charleston and took a job at NFAC in 1941 so she could send money home to help her family. She married Ellis and they were married for 56 years. She remained in Charleston the rest of her life. She was an active life member of Remount Road Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, GA's and Sunshine girls. She loved her Sunday School Class and enjoyed the fellowship of her friends. Grace was very active in the Amaranth's, Eastern Star and White Shrine. She was past Grand Royal Matron for the Order of the Amaranths. She is survived by her brother George Lloyd Johnson, (Dot), sister Wilma Silver (Billy), her son Ellis Goodwin McMillan Jr. (Mary), daughters Nancy McMillan Spindler (Jim), and Tammy McMillan Buckley (Michael), six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 5PM-7PM at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11AM. Interment will follow the service in Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
