Margaret Lever Obituary

Margaret Welch Lever GREENVILLE, SC - Margaret Welch Lever, 91, widow of Ben Ray Lever, Jr., died Monday, April 1, 2013. Born in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Simons Welch, Jr. and May Stout Welch. Mrs. Lever was Miss Charleston in 1939 and the First Azalea Queen. She was a graduate of the College of Charleston and a member of Christ Church Episcopal. She was a homemaker. Surviving are a daughter, Peggy L. Burke and husband Bill of Dumfries, VA; a son, Ben R. Lever III and wife Dianne of Kiawah Island, SC; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Polly Kitts of Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Caris Hospice, 111 Smith Hines Rd., Suite D, Greenville, SC 29607; Christ Church Episcopal Senior Ministry, 10 N.
