Margaret Lewis Hendricks ANGIER, NC - Margaret Lewis Hendricks, September 8, 1932 - April 15, 2022 Mrs. Hendricks of Angier, NC, was born in Hamlet, NC, to Herbert and Pauline Lewis. She is survived by daughter, Nancy Brody (Rees) of Mooresville, NC; daughter, Kim Truesdale (Kent) of Angier, NC; daughter, Polly Perret of Angier, NC; daughter, Paula Brown of Lexington, SC; and son, Artie Hendricks (Valerie) of Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend John Kirkwood (Kirk) Hendricks, Sr. and son, John Kirkwood Hendricks, Jr. Mrs. Hendricks is survived by 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Sinclair Lewis of Anderson, SC. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred McDonald; and her brothers, Herbert Lewis, Jr. and Leslie Lewis. As an integral part of her husband, Kirk's, ministry, Mrs. Hendricks was the consummate pastor's wife. Alongside Kirk, she served the Sampit Methodist Charge in Georgetown, SC, from 1961-62; Folly Beach United Methodist Church, 1964 - 70; Red Bank United Methodist Church in Lexington, SC, 1970 - 74; Harris United Methodist Church in Greenwood, SC, 1974 - 76; Trinity United Methodist Church in Newberry, SC, 1976 - 80; Ware Shoals/Hodges United Methodist Charge in Greenwood County, SC, 1980 - 86; St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ninety Six, SC, 1986 - 94. In retirement, they served Lakeview United Methodist Church in Lakeview, SC, in 1996, and Hardeeville United Methodist Church in Hardeeville, SC, 2000 - 01. Mrs. Hendricks served many years as a high school cafeteria manager in Greenwood, SC, before retiring. In addition to her work as a cafeteria manager, Mrs. Hendricks was a successful caterer. Her expertise was catering large events with a personal touch. Among Mrs. Hendricks's many specialties were her homemade cinnamon rolls. She was a person of great faith who deeply loved her family and friends. A private graveside service will be held prior to the service at Olive Branch Cemetery in Kipling. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Kipling United Methodist Church with Rev. Justin Jamis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the community building.
