Margaret Hauptman Obituary

HAUPTMAN, Margaret SUMTER, SC - Margaret Driggers Hauptman, 85, widow of Nathaniel S. Hauptman, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Hospice Center of Charleston. Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Mid Driggers and the late Annie Jones Driggers. Mrs. Hauptman was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, Children's Church, and was a member of the Glory Road Singers. Surviving is a son, Donald Jeryl Hauptman and wife Debbie of Sumter; three daughters, Barbara Kirk and husband Gary of Colorado, Valeria Brunson and husband Bruce of Summerville and Shelia Dickerson and husband Larry of Sumter; a sister, Ruby Baxley of Hemingway; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Sterling Hauptman; two brothers, Clayton Driggers and Daniel Mid Driggers, Jr., and a sister, Ruth Evans. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Hipps, the Rev. Rusty Conyers, the Rev. Don Riner, and the Rev. Steve Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Geoff Hauptman, Heath Brunson, Sutton Phelps, Anthony Amerson, Brian Rogers, and Tyler Hauptman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ben Dukes, Rev. Rusty Conyers, Rev. Steve Bowen, and former members of her Children's Church. The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Donald J. Hauptman and daughters, Shelia Dickerson, and Valeria Brunson.
