We met you for the first time at a tea party. A tea party at my house to celebrate Annie and Calvin. A tea party you had dressed for properly with long black sleeves to protect your arms from a possibly chilly air conditioner. A shabby chic tea party that was set up in my back yard with china, flowers and quilts as a backdrop on my clothesline. On a warm day. You were anything but shabby chic. You were chic. And I was concerned of how you were going to react to being dressed beautifully and warmly for a tea party in my already warm backyard. But with grace and good humour, you inserted yourself in and made a hit with everyone there that day. You applauded all of Summer's lovely and quirky details... details that she pours herself into... details that go unnoticed by most. But not you. You were wonderfully delighted at all of her small touches. You made her feel appreciated, You laughed at all of our strange humour. You made me feel relaxed. You said such nice things to Annie. You made her feel loved. I am sure you will do the same where you are now for it is in your nature. I will think of you the next time I am at a tea party. And I will smile.
