Marcus Bollinger Obituary

Marcus Ross Bollinger CHATTANOOGA, TN - Marcus Ross Bollinger, died on January 29, 2015, at the age of 92. He was born in Drexel, North Carolina to the late Marvin Otto Bollinger, Sr. and Eula Pope Bollinger. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Thelma Doxtad Bollinger; his son, Rodney Ross Bollinger; his brothers, Otto, Frank, Pfifer and Billy; and sisters, Francis Mitchell, Nell Shirley and Mary Franklin. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War ll. While training in Sioux City, Nebraska, he met and married his wife Thelma Doxtad in 1944. He lived for 17 years in Charleston, SC where he was a salesman for Nabisco. He was a member of First Baptist Church. An avid fisherman, he was on the water every Saturday. In 1964 he moved to High Point, NC and joined his brother, Otto, in the hosiery business. He enjoyed working in his 3 acre yard and was an active member of Emerywood Baptist Church for 46 years. He moved to Collegedale, TN in 2010 and was a resident of Garden Plaza, Morning Point and the Lantern. He is survived by daughter Deborah of Kawasaki, Japan; son Bruce (Susan) of Ooltewah, TN and two grandchildren, Adam and Paige. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Emerywood Baptist Church in High Point, NC. He will be interned with his wife at Emerywood Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for their kind and considerate care. To the family: Sorry for your loss. I remember his father and mother who lived on Main Street Drexel. I remember in their later years sitting on their front porch. I am related to this family. My grandmother was Fannie Bollinger sister to Alice Bollinger. I do not remember everyone but I do remember your aunt Mary. May your fond memories sustain you during this time. Carol Garrison Powell
