Marco Ortiz Obituary

Brother... We celebrated Cindy's birthday yesterday, and your baby boy's tomorrow. These are the hardest days. Days of joy that are filled with mourning. You were the light of all our celebrations. Whether we say the words or just exchange glances, Cindy and I suffer silently together. Sometimes I wonder if it ever will be easier. For now, I just want to miss you because I never want to stop remembering... Love for always. Me.

Not a day has passed where I have not thougth of you. I remember the last time we spoke, just days before you left us. You have left me the greatest memories of childhood, sports, high school, work, and friendship. Only a small group of us can say, "Nobody Beats Berkeley!"

Marco, it is amazing how many lives you personally touched. EVERYBODY knew you and loved you. You were truly a class act gentleman and a man's man. I know you are busy up there looking after so many of us. Thank you for all you did.

To the family of Marco Ortiz, I knew not Marco, however I am a law enforcement officer for the State of California,and my son is a Deputy for ACSO as well....it always hurts to hear a loss of one of our own. And based upon what I've heard from my son in regards to Deputy Ortiz, he was a well respected Deputy and overall a good person. I extend my deepest condolences to the family and fellow Deputies that knew him, and who he served along with for the past 10 years. Marco, It made me so sad to hear that you were taken away from us at such a young age. I feel blessed to have known you and to be able to experience the wonderful, sweet, kind caring person you are. We shared some good laughs my friend. I also remember how proud my Dad was of you. He always talked so highly about you. I'm sure that you two have been able to talk now that you are both in heaven.

I met Marco many years ago and I remember he always had a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes. Marco was a great teammate, family man and friend. He loved to laugh as much as anyone. he always had a smile on his face and it always put a smile on my face to see that big guy giggle like a little kid. Marco was a very good man and is deeply missed.

You were a great co-worker and friend to me. You always made me laugh and had a great infectious smile. On several occasions, you gave me pep talks and talked me through assignments, even though I never asked you to. No one has ever done that for me. I wish you were here longer, but I'm glad I got to know you while you were here. You were a great man with a kind heart. I’ll always remember Marco for the great guy he was. We didn’t keep in touch much as adults but I always asked his mother (who works at my union hall) how he was. He was a blessed guy in life with family and friends. I cannot express to his family how sorry I am. Just try to remember him as he was and think about what he would have wanted for all of you.

Dear Ortiz Family, Marco was a wonderful young man respected by all that knew him. I had the priveledge of knowing him through school and watching how he mentored his classmates as well as those younger than him. He touched my whole family in one way or the other, as a friend, mentor or just a person to admire. I also had the wonderful experience to work with him as SRO7 in San Lorenzo. He always greeted me with a smile and hug. It was so great to see him back at Arroyo giving back to his community.
Marco touched so many lives and made an impact on all that met him. Not many people can do that! He will continue to do that from Heaven above
Mrs. Ortiz, I cannot imagine your loss, but you can be proud of the man you raised and his child will have a great man to look up to with all the stories to be told. May God Bless You All.

All though we parted ways a while back, I am very pleased to hear you never changed. You had the heart of a lion and you where as genuine as they come. I have been many places, some good, some bad. What up Fam? I wanted to start out by saying you are going to be deeply missed. I know we have't talked to eachother in years but when we did see one another it was like we were back in the 8th grade all over again. I still have that message you left me Dec. 29th at 11:30pm. I have listened to it over and over again, When I heard it that morning I told myself I was going to call you after work cause we haven't talked in years. I was so excited to hear from you!! The next day I was told that you were in an accident. Now I sit here wishing I could of just been able to answer that phone call. I'm gonna miss you Marco. We were all like brother's growing up Luis, Chris, Alex, Mike, Antone and Myself. I told Luis that I heard you were having a baby and he said "Well you'll know if it's true when you hear about a 1 year old baby bench pressing a car" How so very true that is. You are an amazing person Marco. I'm gonna Miss you... Love You Fam.

So many great memories of Marco. He loved to remind me about the time that he glued me to my seat in 4th grade, even when we were well into our 20's.
