Marcia Veronica Smith Folly Beach, SC - Marcia Veronica Smith, 98, of Folly Beach, SC, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022. Marcia was born on November 6, 1923 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of the late Catherine (Schlufter) Ward and Timothy Ward. She was born and raised in downtown Charleston, SC and graduated from Memminger High School. She was one of the first Folly Beach Librarians, was an avid gardener, reader of all types of books and loved to crochet hats and blankets for the MUSC Children's Hospital. She was the bread maker for the Sandbar Restaurant for many years. One of her favorite pleasures in life was cooking for her family. She tent camped until the age of 96, loved her family and animals and called Folly Beach her home for 70 years. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Angus T. Smith, Sr. and son, Richard Smith. Marcia is survived by four children, Angus T., Jr., Timothy (Carol), Sandra (Ken) Hickman and Jean Smith; five grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 12:30pm at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Charleston, 4975 Lacross Road, #200A, North Charleston, SC 29406 or Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
