Marcellus Cochran Obituary

Marcellus "Marc" Francis Cochran, III MT. PLEASANT - Marcellus "Marc" Francis Cochran III, 61, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 after battling a long illness. Marc was born October 1, 1950 in Birmingham, AL, son to Joanne Howell Spillers and Marcellus Francis Cochran, Jr. Later, the family moved to his hometown of Valdosta, GA where he attended school and graduated college at Valdosta State University. He was an avid outdoorsman, and did everything with a strong passion. He was a continual reader, seeking to learn and expand his knowledge in many areas, most notably history. He most appreciated his family and friends close support in his final years. He is survived by his wife, Carol Strader Cochran; son Marcellus Francis Cochran IV and his wife Amanda Helsabeck Cochran; daughter Brinkley Sellers Cochran and her husband James Williams Hellams, Jr; and grandchildren Lilly Kate Cochran and Fischer Thomas Cochran. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 13, at 5:30 PM with reception following service at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, MN.
