Manuel "Manny" Arthur Mello MT. PLEASANT - Manuel "Manny" Arthur Mello, 72, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the Hospice of Charleston Center in Mt. Pleasant. Manny was born July 17, 1937, in New Bedford, MA to the late Manuel S. and Mary (Avila) Mello. During his early career, Manny served in the U.S. Army working primarily in The Pentagon, Washington, DC. He had a successful 30-year career with IBM in which his significant contributions helped many companies in the United States and throughout the world transition into the information age. He had a successful second 10-year career as an Information Technology consultant to several mid-sized businesses in the NJ area. Most recently, Manny served as a counselor for the Coastal Chapter 285 of the Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE). He received his undergraduate and MBA degrees from Pace University in New York, NY. He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of 44 years, Mary (Draudt) Mello; two sons; Michael J. Mello and his wife Karen of Bethel, CT; Matthew D. Mello and his wife Elizabeth of Cortlandt Manor, NY; five grandchildren; Chris, Ryan, Sarah, Taylor and Kyle; and his cousin Cynthia Avila.
