Manfred Meiners LADSON - Manfred Meiners, 64, of Ladson, formerly of Ellenboro, North Carolina died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at his residence. Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 2 o'clock at Miles Road Baptist Church, 816 Miles Road, Summerville. Burial will be private. Mr. Meiners was born February 17, 1946, in Oldenburg, Germany, son of the late Adolf Hillen and Anna Koester Hillen. He retired from the Coast Guard, was a police officer in New Jersey and South Carolina and an environmental officer with Charleston County. Survivors, including his former wife and caregiver Ruth Remlein, are three daughters; Lisa Meiners, Debbie Curry and Kristy Meiners all of New Jersey, three grandchildren, two sisters; Ingrid Rogers and Margaret Turner and caregiver Rita Smith. He was predeceased by one grandson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Ave., Ste. 101, North Charleston, SC 29405.
