Mae Ard Maker WINTER HAVEN, FL - Mae Ard Maker, 86, of Winter Haven, FL, formerly of Florence, SC, died Thursday, September 30, 2010. in a Florida hospital after an illness. Mrs. Maker was born in Florence Co., SC a daughter of the late Jesse James Ard and Mattie Marie Horton Ard. She graduated with an LPN Degree and had been associated with Bruce Hospital and the Sexton Dental Clinic, both of Florence. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Florence and currently a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wilbur Maker and a son, James Cecil Maker. Surviving are her sons, John Wilbur "Billy" Maker, III of Florence, SC, David Bruce Maker of Winter Haven, FL, Kenneth Jenkins (Sherrie) Maker of Summerville, SC, daughters, Marshall Maker (Calvin) Yarborough of Florence, SC and Linda Maker (Tony) Hill of Florence, SC; sister, Ruth Ard Carmon of Effingham, SC; fifteen grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd's Hospice, Winter Haven, FL. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 Monday, October 4, 2010, in the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM, Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, Florence, SC. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/ deaths

To Chris and Becky....so sorry to read of your grandmothers passing...she was a wonderful lady and so enjoyed knowing her when you lived here and Michael and Chris were best friends..we did see you all once in Florida too and hope you are all doing well.
Please know we miss you and know your grandmother had a good long life but we still do not want to lose them but she is in Heaven now and we all shall see her again there. Take comfort in
the many happy memories you have of her and let us hear from you ok.
