M. McKissick-Jones Obituary

McKISSICK-JONES, M. ST. GEORGE - Margie Carn McKissick-Jones, 71, died Monday, May 21, 2007 at Colleton Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Indian Field United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jakie Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at BRYANT FUNERAL HOME. Pallbearers will be Ricky Bair, George Bailey, Darryl Carn, Mike Metts, Tom Horne and L.C. Knight. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of the Dorchester County Clerk of Court's office. Margie was born on September 28, 1935 in Orangeburg County a daughter of the late Luther McCuller Kemmerlin, Jessie Cherry Way and her step-father Reuben Way. She was a graduate of Holly Hill High School and a member of Indian Field United Methodist Church. She was elected Dorchester County Clerk of Court in 1972 and was re-elected for six terms. She retired in December 2000. She was a member of the Rotary International, Dorchester County Democratic Party, HARIDO Chapter #161 O.E.S. and the South Carolina Association of Clerk of Court and RMC. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. McKissick. Surviving is her husband, Clarence E. Jones, Sr.; three sons, Kevin R. (Lori) Carn, Wilmington, N.C., James Allen Al (Pam) Carn, Jr., Reevesville and Kerry Mitchell Carn, Summerville; two brothers, Melvin (Brenda) Kemmerlin, Holly Hill and R.H. Way, Jr., Summerton; sisters, Jeanette (Otis) Carn, St. George and Lillian (Ruffin) Bacot, Santee; grandchildren, Brian James Carn, Zachary Daniel Carn, James Allen Jamie Carn, III and Kelsey Renae Carn; and step-children, Clarence E. Buddy Jones, James Island, Cheryl Ann Young, Summerville, Charles Jones and Karen J. Wilson, both of Govan. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
